Over time, multiple factors such as pregnancy, nursing, and gravity take their toll on a woman's breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity the breast often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag. The breast lift (mastopexy) procedure is designed to re-position and re-shape the breast to a more youthful state. The best results are usually achieved in women with small, sagging breasts but breasts of any size can be lifted.
A variety of surgical techniques exist to lift the breast and each has a unique scar pattern. You and your surgeon will work together to determine the ideal procedure for your body.
The operation is performed under a general anesthetic and usually takes less than 3 hours. Most patients go home the same day and typically will not require a surgical drain. Most patients require pain medications for one week and have returned to work and most daily activities within 2 weeks. We will ask you to refrain from heavy lifting and exercise for 6 weeks following your surgery.
